I have emailed Look North with the following ... Please do the same.

I am a daily Look North viewer.

On Monday I watched as usual, expecting to see some coverage of our local British Superbikes round at Croft. Nothing.

This is a major event with 30,000+ attendance. nstead, I got the usual "sport" news being football football and more football.

To add insult to injury, there was also an obvious "filler" slot about some bloke who bears a passing resemblance to the owner of NUFC.

This is simply NOT good enough. Believe it or not there are lots of people out there who are not remotely interested in overpaid young men kicking a ball about.

If you can send a camera to minor league football grounds, you can at least manage some small coverage of other sports.

British Superbikes are widely seen as the best national series of its type in the world.

I am a licence payer as well. The BBC should cover sport as it happens in our region - not just blanket coverage of football.

Got this reply from the BBC...

Apologies for the lack of coveage. This was a bad miss on our part -
although we are severely restricted in the amount of footage we can use,
because we do not hold the rights to the footage and are therefore not
allowed to put a camera into Croft for events such as this.

All we would have been able to do is use up to one minute of action from
the Sky programme, under what's called the "News Access Agreement" - but
with so much else to think about over the weekend (yes, coverage of the
Newcastle Utd protest, I'm afraid) this somehow slipped by the radar.
Belive it or not, we have to comb through the Radio Times every Friday,
to see what other stations are showing and what footage we are entitled
to use. Still should have had this marked in the diary, though.

As for the Mike Ashley lookalike - although I introduced the item, along
with Carol, this wasn't actually part of the sports desk, but was
covered by a news reporter. Whether you think it is of interest or not,
the fact is it was picked up by many other news organisations (including
Tyne Tees, the following night) and even made the FRONT page of some
tabloids this week. That doesn't make it a better story, but does show
that a lot of people considered it newsworthy
