Scarborough RacesWill anybody be at Olivers Mount next weekend for the races.
We are looking to go up on friday night and camp over the weekend.

I'll be marshalling. Don't know whereabouts, though.
Probably be around on friday, putting out bales, etc.

I've just got the newsletter from the Auto66 club.
Quote, "If you have friends that would like to marshal, please bring them along and we will sign them up for free membership on the day, then they will receive all future information."
So you've got your invite. If you fancy it, signing on is at the chief marshal's car parked at the entrance to the top field prior to 8am saturday and 8-30am sunday. You'll get to watch the racing for nowt and, plus food and drink vouchers and a program. If you get in touch with the office, free camping for marshals can be pre-booked.
Just bring a dayglo orange vest or overalls and good boots or shoes.

You should give marshaling ot the Isle of Man a go John
I was a bit uncertain about doing it but had a great time at the TT this year (best visit in 28 years - loads of new friends and experiences) and am about to book for the Manx (got a bloody wedding right in the middle!)
PS I must be getting extravagant in my old age - chucked my Maid of the Mist coat away!

Don't worry, Nick, I've got a spare cape. A blue one from the boat and a yellow one from behind the waterfall.
Should have taken them up the mount, it threw it down all day friday when we were setting up. Not too bad for the weekend, though, with just a few showers saturday morning.

I've got a week at the Manx planned. If you post when you're going, Nick, I'll have a look at the cheap sailings on the Steam Racket site.

Ive got a posh wedding on Sat 23rd August (same church as Prince Charles married Camilla) and the Current Mrs El Presidente is best woman, or whatever, so I hope to go to Manx Sun 17th-Fri 22nd Aug. Unfortunately, this is practice week but better than nothing and at least I am helping out on the marshaling front
Hope to book tickets tomorrow when things are finalised - seem bloody cheap compared to TT!
Hopefully our visits will overlap a little bit

Returning tuesday 26th, 0845.
Now I don't know whether to take my ridge tent or teepee

Take your teepee (tipi?) mate
Much more stylish and will bring back happy memories of Glastonbury (although on a slightly smaller scale)!

Teepee, or not Teepee.............
Now that is the question............
